Some changes

Made some updates to the site the other night. Added some Netflix widgets with the sidebar so everyone can see how ridiculous I am about returning movies. And it displays some of my queue. I'm seriously going to reconsider organizing my queue so it doesn't look like I have a ton of crap movies waiting to be sent to me. (I tend to move things up to the top of the queue based on my mood.)
I've also decided to look into adding an about page...since I've been a nameless entity for the past four or so years. It just felt like the time was right (ie, I stopped procrastinating).
I want to make some more aesthetic-type changes in the future, but I'll have to get motivated for that as well.

Banner notes

Design a new banner the other day.
Used Elegants Brush PS by =Coby17 on deviantART and The Shoreways acrylic PS brushes in the design.
Very good stuff!

You know you've watched too many horror movies...

I stumbled on this video (which amazingly never made it into my inbox...no one loves me apparently). I don't know why, but with the sappy Aerosmith ballad, I found myself giggling and thinking "this is a joke right?" I was actually prepared and waiting to see the lion maul the folks, but alas...it was just a sappy video.
Watch it and try not to get all sappy yourself. (Unless you're like me and expecting things to go horribly wrong.)

My cat would eat me

Find more videos like this on AdGabber

That is shenanigans. My cat does not stand for such things. Heck, when I push him off my yoga mat, he attacks me.
(He's actually quite mild-mannered, but does not put up with any sort of bs.)

I brokes the internet

My internet has been down at home, so my posting is scattered at best. Have some movie reviews to catch up on still, but will need to do that when I can better focus. So yeah, just some snippets till I'm up and running, and of course, I have my micro-blogging going on at my Twitter.

On Dreams

I have this reoccurring theme in my dreams.
It involves the last play I was in my senior year of high school. In the dream, I have to perform the role again, but it's been this same span of time and I cannot remember my lines. I start freaking out that I'm on stage performing and having no idea what happens next and I'm desperately trying to find ways to improvise my way through the role.
I'm sure it has deep meaning, considering I get this theme during certain times of my life. Unfortunately, I haven't paid attention to what times so I can't figure out what the connection is to my waking life.

Dr. Horrible

If you're one of the people that didn't crash the server a few days ago to see "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog", I highly recommend checking it out before it's gone. From the mind of Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly), it's a 3-part musical comedy. Neil Patrick Harris is stellar as Dr Horrible, a villain trying to get his foot in the door at the Evil League of Evil. Felicia Day (of The Guild (among other things), which is a hilarious online sitcom that I also recommend, especially if you're a gamer) also turns out a great performance as Penny, the girl of Dr. Horrible's dreams.
It is definitely worth the watch!

Bringing the creepy

And the pathetic....

And the delusional...and the psycho...and yet...funny all the same.
Some people just don't *get* it.

Admit it

This is the face of a vicious attack dog:

You're scared. You know it's true.

Rambo

Let me preface this by saying I have not seen the other movies in the Rambo series...or if I have, it's been so long ago that I can't remember.
So I'm not a rom-com kind of chick in the least bit, in case you failed to notice the complete lack of reviews in that genre. I enjoy the spooks, the sci-fi, the dramas, and a good ol' fashioned action flick. Best Christmas movie ever? Die Hard, hands down. So Rambo was looking pretty appealing, what with the guns and the explosions and all.
My officemate told me that I would be laughing at the sheer over-the-top approach of the violence in this movie, and he was right. I had meant to watch this more than once just to count how many times a head got blown off. It was really insane. Story-wise, it didn't get too fancy, and that was not a negative thing in this case. It was still entertaining to the very end. (You know...as entertaining as people getting blown up can be.)

The Ruins

I guess I missed what the fuss was about this movie. I was quite disappointed after reading/hearing some good reviews.
Honestly, when it comes down to it, mockingbird-like ivy that crawls all up in people doesn't seem like such a solid story line after all. Who would have thought?

The King of Kong

Best.Shit.Ever.

A documentary on the man who held the top Donkey Kong score, and the guy who decided to beat it. Sure, on the surface, it may seem like a total nerdfest. But this is a really captivating documentary. I found myself rooting for Steve Wiebe and deciding that Billy Mitchell can suck an egg. It's like a simple good vrs evil tale...only Billy Mitchell isn't really evil. He's just painted as the 'bad guy' in this movie. I think even for a non-gamer, this would be an entertaining flick.

The Last Broadcast

It's like the Blair Witch, but without the Blair Witch. And an interesting story. And quality. Actually, it's nothing like the Blair Witch, but people keep making comparisons between the two. (You see, each movie involves people going into the woods. And some video cameras. And disappearing bodies.)
Honestly, the ending is what completely and utterly trashed this movie for me. I don't know where the filmmakers were going with it, but it would have been half a nana better without it.

Suspiria

Story-wise, this movie isn't the strongest. (That seems to be a reoccurring theme in my reviews tonight.) The issue may just be from the dubbing though. Where this movie shines (and earns 4 delicious nanas) is the actual camera work and cinematography. It is absolutely gorgeous. The colors, the lighting, the atmosphere...just perfect. And the first death in the movie...yeowz. I watched that scene several times just to take it in. Classic!

Doomsday

It took me about 20 mins before I figured out why Kate Beckinsale was looking so odd. (Because it was not KB, but Rhona Mitra).
So what do you do when a deadly virus gets out of control? Close the country of course and accept your losses. (Duh.)
And what do you do when you're in the country that has been cut off from the rest of the world and abandoned to die?
Well...you either become all Thunderdome, cannibalistic, get some tattoos, and dye your hair...or you decide to go old school. Really old school. Medieval old school. Complete with medieval outfits.
Talk about clashing.

One of my fav You Tube videos ever

Well because of Wil Wheaton, I found myself watching Lil J Showstopper on You Tube. I should probably elaborate on that, but nah...it's a good sentence the way it is. Relish it. Embrace it. I just blamed something on Wil Wheaton. YEAH!
So anyway, Lil J was a sad, sad picture of the youth of today, and really not worth posting here. But somewhere along the lines, I came across my absolute fav "remix" video EVER. (I think I had this posted on Monkeythoughts V01, but those days are long gone.)

Enjoy Bubb Rubb, Lil Sis, and the WHOO WHOO!
