Case Histories

As a recent offering to the US audiences, PBS’s Masterpiece Mystery presented “Case Histories”, a recent novel to tv adaptation. The show stars Jason Isaacs (aka, the dick from The Patriot and, more recently, Lucius Malfoy, that dick of a death eater. But a beautiful blond death eater. Rawr.) in a decidedly non-dick role of private investigator Jackson Brodie. The series takes place in Edinborough, so the accents could get rather thick. If I couldn’t understand what was happening verbally, I would just imagine Jason Isaacs with a blonde wig and some wizard powers and it was all good.
But anyway, Jackson Brodie is the rather non-humorous PI type, dealing with an ex-wife, a no-nonsense assistant, a former boss in the police force who finds him charming despite herself, and a nice myriad of some bizarre clientele. And he runs a lot, but not with a blonde wig. Booooo.
It is a good mystery show if you’re into that sort of thing. I highly recommend catching it on PBS on demand or via their app while you can.
